Generic Medication Alert

As part of IPC’s continued effort to promote generic prescribing in all appropriate cases, we would like to offer the following list of newly approved generic medications.  The list of new generic approvals comes from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), http://www.fda.gov/cder/ogd/approvals/.

The Generic Medication Alert includes drugs that have recently been FDA approved.  Drugs listed may not yet be available at a retail and/or mail order pharmacy; it would be prudent to check with the pharmacy provider about when it may be available.  Generic drugs must have the same active ingredients as its brand name counterpart and can provide savings to its users.  Talk with your doctor or pharmacist and explain that you want the most effective drug for your condition at the best price.  Ask your doctor to write prescriptions for generic drugs when possible.
